Children and Youth

Children and young people are such an important part of our church family here at St Georges and St Nicholas.  We love having them and they are very welcome here with us.

On a Sunday

Children are very welcome to remain in church with you.  We do, however at St George's, have Sunday School groups that your child may find fun and engaging so they can make freinds and learn with other chidren.

The groups we have are:

  • Ladybirds (age 0-3) - meeting in the Lady Chapel within the church building - parents stay
  • Sunday School (age 4+) - meeting in the church hall

Our Sunday mornings for families begin with school age children being dropped into the chucrh hall to meet Jane (our Sunday School leader) and then parents retunring to chucrh for a time of worship.

The children are brought into church by their teachers towards the end of the service so we can come together as a wider chucrh family and celebrate the eucharist together.

Ladybird children (0-3's) are taken into the Lady Chapel in the church building at the start of the service (or any time during the service) and parents are asked to stay with them for their session.

On the first Sunday of every month, we have a family friendly, altogether service which is more interactive and focussed towards us being toegther as one.  Sometimes there are activities for the children, sometimes our puppets make an appearance and often children and young people are involved in these services if they would like.

During the week

There are plenty of things to get involved with in the life of the church for all ages:

Tuesday Cherubs (up to nursery age)- an afternoon exploring bible stories, singing, craft and a cuppa of tea together

Norton Nippers  (toddlers and babies) - an afternoon toddler and baby group full of fun, activities, great conversation and snacks!

Streetdragons  (school year 1-6) - Friday evening fun to lose all that excess engery from school.  Fun with games and activities.

In-Betweeners Youth Group   (school year 7-13) - Sunday evening chill out or cool down time with games, activities or simply relaxing and chatting together.

Messy Church (whole family) - a brilliant family focussed morning sessions held in school holidays.  Activities, craft, games and fun toegther before sitting and enjoying lunch
